You have got to be kidding me! Where is Bruce Gradkowski on this list? Not even on the Honorable Mention list, while Cribbs is there? I just have to be missing something here.

Huh?

4 of the 12 players listed as 1st Team defense are NIU players. No other team had more then 2 on the 1st team.

Do you try to out do yourslf with these dumb comments?

I'm going to agree.

How we had 4 1st team defensive players is amazing. Good for them, i'm not trying to take anything away from them, but i'm curious how a defense with this much 'talent' can let us down?

Did anyone else notice the entire 1st team offense is all from the Western division? When I first looked at this, I thought there were separate teams for the west and the east.

Other comments:

4 NIU offensive linemen on first or second team, and the only one who wasn't, McGhgy, probabaly could have been as well.

Big props to Van Acker for getting 1st team over the BG center who gets way more pub during games. They list Van Acker as a Jr. I thought he was a Sr. Does anyone know if he is back next yr.?

My only beef was that Ray Smith got no mention (I thought he had a better year than Boogie). I'm sure he will next year. Ray is a very hard hitter, I wonder if he has the reputation from the coaches as a head hunter since the BG game and lost votes.

What about the CB's that everyone loves? That is who I pointed out!

Please let's not think because we have 4 guys on D on the list that we were any good. Let's not confuse individual accomplishments with team success.

Andre Dawson won the league MVP award and the Cubs finished in last.

First of all, you were the one linking individual accomplishments with team success with your comment that NIU's defense wasn't good because our corners didn't get mention. Did you really forget you posted that?

Secondly, did you notice every DB on the First team was a safety, and two of the four on second team were safeties as well? Safeties always make these teams ahead of CB's because they pile up the tackles. But I'm sure you noticed that, right?

Besides, who said NIU's CB's were the best in the conference? All anyone has said is they aren't as terrible as you like to claim.

But keep posting about this. It's fun shooting down your moronic points

98. you are such a dope! First off, I don't want you to complain about name calling since you did so in your last post.

Our safeties make all the tackles becuase our CB's can't cover and tackle anyone!

Well, then I suppose Miami's corners suck because their safties have 30+ more tackles then the CB's do.

Oh wait, both Miami's CB's made 2nd team. How can that be?
According to you:

safties making tackles = corners no good

I wasn't going to say anything else and clobber you with facts, but you make it sooo easy.

That is totally ******ing stupid. Watch the defense some time. Our safeties are very aggressive by design, and thus get a lot of tackles. Our CBs shouldn't have a lot of tackles anyways, and then this year they've played much more man outside, taking the CBs even farther away from tackle opportunities.

Making bold statements like "the D sucks" doesn't make you smarter.

BTW - big congrats to Van Acker. He's very athletic and pulls a lot, which very few teams do with their centers. And whomever said it was right - for him to get the nod over BG's center is quite a statement to his year. He started the year a little shaky, but really came on and was excellent. He's a junior, so he'll be back, but Lueck is a Sr.
