If we could find a way to win at BC, it would be very significant. BC currently is undefeated and No. 1 in the RPI. I could see us having instant visibility in the polls. The game will be winable but the odds will be against us. A win would be a perfect way to end the year. I am on my way to pray. Merry Christmas everyone, especially Flashes.

Merry Christmas to you, too, GF. And to all good Flashes everywhere.

The BC games is similiar to Creighton in the sense that it's all upside. If we win, we get a geat RPI boost accompanied by experience of winning tough road games. Those are more important to me than polls right now. Most will expect us to lose. If we do it won't be considered a "bad loss" and we'll recover.

BC isn't getting a lot of respect for it 8-0 record, probably as it's viewed as a little light. As axeme pointed out, they've won some sqeekers against middle of the road teams ( Holy Cross and Yale). The Eagles may be ready to be taken and we can do it if:

1. Our frontcourt plays its best game of the season. The Eagles win through their forwards. Smith is a monster, we have to keep him under his 20 ppg average. We gotta block him out on the boards; he's very quick and likes those second chances. Overall, he brings a complete game other than the fact he's been a bit sloppy with an average of three turnovers a game. If we handle Smith, we have to worry about Dudley, who contributes more through rebounds. Doornekamp is big but only an average center. Edwin, Cutley and Gerwig, if he plays, have to bring it all for us to pull this out.

2. Our guards bring the offense. No All Americans or wanna be's (ala Deiner or McKinney) in the Eagles backcourt, so Haynes and Youngblood should have a challenging but not draining defensive task. I hope this frees up their energy and offense a bit.

Given the last two outings, this should be another barnburner. Somthing tells me the Flashes want to make a statement with this one. They're bigger, we're faster...but we may want it just enough more to pull it out. Go Flashes.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey, aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves here? Don't we have the Notre Dame game first?
Aren't they like 5-2 with a win over Indiana. Oh wait, wrong one (In sooo many ways.) You mean the NAIA school that's 7-6. Neeever mind! Back to the BC game discussion...

:D

I've read that BC is getting beat on the boards a lot in their close wins.

That may be the key for Kent, but it doesn't exactly play into our strengths.

I agree with everyone. This has been a very good OOC schedule for us and this is the game. We need to take it to them, they stole one from us last year and now its time to get some pay back. i really hope we can go in there and beat them, it would be such a good feeling and good expirience the young guys to win on the road against a big east team.
Well good Luck to them tonight and against BC next week. Happy Holidays to all!!!!!
Go Flashes

BC got taken to two overtimes against Yale at home. I believe we can hang with them, and pull out another huge road win. As long as we dont play like we did against ND. I thought for sure we could beat BC on the boards, but now im wondering if that is possible, after watching us get beat on the boards against Notre Dame.

I think we'll hang with BC; I was at the ND game and you could tell that they played just hard enough to get the job done.
That ND team could flat out shoot, and Kent had to step it up a few times (and they did) to keep some space.

Gerwig looks better now and should be a big help on the boards against BC; I pray that the BIG GAME Jason Edwin
shows up for this one (you never know with Edwin). Looks like Jim Christian can go 10 deep now with Gerwig back
and we should be able to play the more aggresive type road game while keeping a fresh lineup.

Go Flashes !! Bury the Big Least on the road!!!

I think BC is ripe for the taking. We just have to have the intensity we normally have.

I'm not too worried about BC. Win or lose, we'll be ready. I am concerened about BSU, however. We have the typical tendency to fall off after a big game.

Hope our guys get that WE are the big game for most of the teams we play. WE are the FSU, Creighton, BC game for most of the MAC. No one in the MAC is going to sleep on us.

BTW, Merry Christmas.

Here is a link to the Sports Network Preview of tonights game. They basically have the matchup even with the edge going to BC for the home court.

<a href='http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/spnet.ssf?/default.asp?c=advance&page=cbask/scores/live/PV135734.htm' target='_blank'>KSU/BC Preview</a>

I am really keyed for this game. I hope the guys box out strong on the rebounds. It looks out Warznski Cutley and Gerwig will need to muscle up to take them off their game. Defensive pressure and a quick running game should tire those BC legs out. Lets hope we come out and hit a bunch of shots early (hopefully 3s) so we can get them playing ball KSU style.

Go Flashes!
