..is now fully completed.

War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock is the first SEC stadium to receive the AstroPlay surface, and will be the only SEC stadium that does not use grass.

Pic of the AstroPlay surface is at

I'd rather them have grass, but down at War Memorial the field gets so beat up after just a few sprinkles that the artificial stuff is necessary. A few 5A-West high schools have the AstroPlay and it does feel just like the real thing. Wasnt Razorback supposed to get that stuff too?

Broyles said no to the AstroPlay at Razorback Stadium. He said Fayetteville will get the AstroPlay only if 6 other SEC teams get it beforehand, aka...he wants for Fayetteville the turf that the majority of the SEC plays on.

As for the AAAAA-West teams, I thought only Springdale had it at this point, and maybe Van Buren. Who else has it?

Van Buren is getting it to go along with our new stadium, but our new head coach has balked on it since hes not a big artificial fan. It may be next season until the surface is installed.

And as for other 5A-West schools with it, it was a suburban Tulsa school I am thinking of. Theyve had it for a few years and that was the first time I saw Field Turf.

Must be thinking about Union. I know they have turf.

Actually its Owasso, but Ive been to Union too. Union has the old fashioned carpet crap that bangs up knees. Owasso has the early prototype of fake grass.

They have a home and home with Southside and I'm always in search of a great football game. Plus our marching band has a competition out there, and I love the marching bands.

Edit: Must be getting late, made no sense the first time I posted it.

Yeah, same here.

I'm definitely gonna go see Jenks-Springdale this fall. Should be interesting considering Malzahn's passing attack, which makes Spurrier's look conservative.

I went to last years Van Buren-Springdale game, and boy did Springdale put on a show. They lined up in some sets with three lineman and receivers all over the field, thats some stuff thats never been seen in the conference of the Northside Wing-T and the Pointer Wishbone.

Springdale-Jenks will be one for the ages. Jenks will win, since they are incredible, but I want to see how they react to the second year Malzahn attack.

Since you follow the 5A-West well...who's your favorite this fall?

I'm looking right now at maybe Russellville. I think Bentonville is losing too many to try and repeat.

Russellville will be strong. Landon Leach is the best quarterback in the league, and should carry the Cyclones to first or second. I think Bentonville is in for a shocking fall from grace, and they could go as low as last in the league.

My picks are:
1. Russellville
2. Springdale
3. Southside
4. Van Buren (this is the pick of a homer, but our new coach is incredible and this team will definitely be motivated)

Yeah, I've heard Russellville, Springdale and Southside are given 1-2-3...with F'Ville, Van Buren, Northside, and Bentonville all fighting for the last playoff spot...Rogers out of the picture, lol.

Should be fun to watch.

This will be my last post of the night:

Kind of interesting that Rogers has the highest enrollment of any school in the state, but cant compete in anything. I know Ronnie Peacock is a good coach from his Greenwood days, so I think there is a chance they could turnaround and become competitive sometime soon.
