Another year and another sweep in the SEC All-Sports Trophy.
Even though the SEC baseball schedule has one more weekend, Florida already has secured the sweep in the SEC All-Sports Trophy, sponsored by the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group.
This is the sixth time the Gators have swept all three awards, and they still are the only program to accomplish that feat. Last season, Florida won the overall and the women's trophies and finished third in the men's standings.
The Gators currently lead Georgia by almost a full point - UF has a 9.867 average and the Bulldogs' average is 8.93 - in the overall standings, and they could extend the lead depending on the baseball finish.
The UF baseball team is third in the overall SEC standings, and Georgia is fifth. The Bulldogs could finish as high as third if they sweep South Carolina, the Eastern Division leaders, and the Gators lose all three at last-place Kentucky this weekend.
Even if that were the case, Florida's average would be more than two-tenths better than Georgia's in the men's standings.
The UF women easily outdistanced second-place South Carolina to win the trophy for the third season in a row.
The Gators won SEC titles in soccer, volleyball, swimming and indoor track and finished second in tennis for a 9.778 average. South Carolina, improving from its fifth-place finish last season, had an 8.938 average.
The lowest finish for the UF women was eighth by the softball team, as they won the trophy for the 12th time in program history.
Final all-sports standings will be determined Sunday after the conclusion of the baseball season.
Also, in the Sears Director's Cup, Florida is fifth with 601 points. Stanford continues to lead with 1,116.5 points.
