How is is that FSU and Miami fans and players can be such bitter rivals, and still respect each other, while Florida fans and players can't get along with neither one of us? We're reminded of this age old question in a quote from Bobby Bowden:

Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden offered an interesting take on the FSU-Miami rivalry on Wednesday, saying that it is not nearly as vicious as his team's games against Florida.

"It's amazing how different it is from the Florida game," Bowden said. "There is more of a closeness between Florida State and Miami. We don't have all those fights and battles and bad talk. As I look at [Miami's] football team I see half of them kids that I offered scholarships here.

Well gee Hornsounder I dont know why that is. I guess you can ponder about it all you want. I never paid much attention about what has been said b/w FSU and Miami players about each other until recently. One answer might be your favorite person : Spurrier. He loved to fuel the rivalry 10 times more then what it was. I know tons of FSU fans and one of my best friends is a nole. We all have mutual respect for each other. I dont really seem to get along w/many Miami fans. And you think FSU players have respect for Miami?? I guess you didnt read Darnell Dockett's quote then.

Guys,
I have both Gator and Nole friends, and the're all equally great people. By the same token, over the years, I've seen the three teams play each other in all three stadiums, and I've witnessed a significantly greater number of fights when the Gators were involved. I'm not saying that its the Gator fans who are to blame wholly. It takes two to tango, I was just wondering why it is the way it is. It goes back further than Spurrier Gabi, but you're right that he added a good amount of fuel to the fire, certainly to mine...

Good luck tomorrow, may your team emerge victorious
