I've got a lengthy question for that person... I think it was USMC.

Does Unix have a good Windows emulator or something along those lines?

There's a few "Must haves" that I currently use, from the DivX codec for my massive dennis miller live collection, to Macromedia Homesite 5 for programming. These aren't offered on the Penguin.

I'd love to use Unix so I don't have to put up with the resource leaks and constant crashes that Windows gives me, however there's software I simply gotta have.

Is there a good website for this kinda stuff?

First, I'm a Mac bigot so take this with a grain of salt. . .I did, after all, buy this computer in order to know as little as possible about how it works.

Can't you run your software on Linux?

Can't you find the same software for Unix-based Mac OS X?

Anything to keep you away from the Dark Side, my friend. . .

2) I'm not a fan of how Macintosh is setup too much either. From no right click to a few other things.

Also - if you burn a data CD using Windows - is it readable on Unix?

Convienence. My brain has a right click in it, to quote another poster on why they didn't like the lack of that feature on mac.

MacOS... OS/2... FreeBSD... Solaris... BeOS...

ever get that feeling of Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole?

All I ask for is stable OS, with the capability to use all my files / data cds / a few software programs.

Not picking a fight; just truly curious. Windoze users talk about the right click light it was an opposable thumb!

So you've never really used a Mac much, right? I mean, you can do all that with your left-mouse click.

I dunno. I just love how people cuss and cuss and cuss about how much their computers crash, etc. but then will defend the EVIL ONE to the nth degree. Not that you're doing that now. I mean, I don't want to get off on a rant here. . .

I'd be willing to put up with no right click if the darned thing virtually never crashed, and could handle ALL my windows files / data cds / programs

One more biggie: FILE SHARING.

Is there a GOOD file sharing program like kazaa out there for Mac?

Gotta have my IRC too, and I mean something with a scripted TDCC/Fserve....

How about a IM program like Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc) -- it lets you use Yahoo, MSN, AIM, and ICQ in one... and lets you chat on IRC!

The made it possible for the Anti-Christ to emerge!

Now, NPR, don't tell me you don't cuss about your windoze box. . .I've heard you cuss it in person!

See! This is what I mean, GTS! It's a regular bi-polar disorder!

I've cussed this funky CD software I've got, but not the computer. Never had a problem except that.

Whoever said women and computers are alike was right! You'll never understand what and why they do the things they do.

To answer your question, yes, if you burn a cd from windows, it will run in Unix. It burns as CDFS. Windows and Unix both read CDFS.
