In my best sarcasm-dripping voice:

Y'all are still obsessed with Tommy, aren't you? It's okay to admit it, go ahead!

JUST KIDDING!

I understand what you're saying, and I agree, I'd want my coach to show a little more passion, too. As a matter of fact, I still think even Tommy should show more emotion on the sidelines, especially after a stupid penalty by a player, to make the kid remember, and not repeat the mistake. I can't stand to see a coach on the sidelines that appears as if he doesn't have a clue, and / or doesn't care. On the flip side of the coin, I hated the childish antics, visor throwing, pouty faces, etc., of Spurrier. But you've gotta admit, the guy knows offense.

And believe you me, for the first half of the Syracuse game last Sat. night, I was beside myself. We just flat-out looked as if we weren't prepared. Luckily (although I don't really think it was luck), we had the guts to stay in the game and come back in the 2nd half & OT.

Anyway, sorry about the novella! Again, good luck on Saturday! Win one for the West!

I appreciate the "well-wishes".

Talking about "visor boy", did you see him the night they were being burned at the stake on Monday Night Football? He was so exasperated by the Redskins' performance he blew air out his mouth making him look like Donald Duck (Huey, Lewy, and Dewey) all at the same time. I thought it was trick photography or something.

You need a coach that is the cross between John Wayne, Woody Hayes and Mother Teresa.

Is AU off this week?

Yep. We play the Hogs next Saturday.

Good luck tomorrow, and have fun either way!

The way Ole Miss fans feel about Coach C's indifference is the same way I felt about Nolan Richardson last season. I went to the last game he "coached" because it happened to be in Starkville. I can't tell you how pissed I was because he kept his mouth shut and didn't even acknowledge that there was a game being played. I have been a Hogs fan my entire life and it really bothered me that he quit on everyone involved with UofA athletics before his tenure was actually over. I don't know all the facts behind this story but he left me with a sour outlook towards everything he did as coach. Hopefully Heath will care about the job more than Nolan seemed to. At least Cutcliffe isn't that far along in his ways yet. If he turns out like Nolan, I will lead the mob to running him out of town.
Sorry about the novel. I've been holding that one in.

You have answered the question that I just asked on SEC Smack. You are a hog fan, right?

Very much so. Hog fan at heart. Current Ole Miss student in body. I never had a 2nd favorite SEC team until I started classes here. So you've got yourself another die-hard.

I understand you're a hog fan (at heart) but did you attend U of A, why are you enrolled at Ole Miss - other than the obvious?

I was set to go to UofA but scholarship crap fell through and I didn't have 13grand to come up with at the time. So I figured Ole Miss was a better choice than MSU. From what I hear MSU's English dept holds **** and Jane books as required reading. Since I only know a handful of people here I figured I'd be more likely to study/work like I should, too. My friends in Starkville are good at distracting me.

Arkansas isn't missing anything with Nolan gone, IMO. He spent way too much time running his mouth and too little doing any meaningful recruiting the past few years. He was set for life there and just let up. He alienated just about everybody that mattered. Even this short time later, we hear nothing about him anymore. Tells you a lot. Coach Heath, given time, will be a very good hire. He's very impressive in person. Very glad to be there, and already mending lots of bridges that Nolan burned in-state. Tell you another BB coach you're going to hear good things about on a national level someday, our UALR man Porter Moser. I've met him several times where I work and he is a super guy. Does tons for the community. He'll be in a big program inside of 4-5 years, mark my words.

I was at the Rebs/Hogs game this past season in Oxford and Nolan didn't honestly appear to care very much then either. I like how he told everyone that he was Arkansas athletics when he was fired and that they were losing the best thing they ever had. Yeah, sure. Anyway Witty, glad you're with us in Oxford. It gets in everyone's blood.

I think it's official now. I kept saying "we" in reference to Ole Miss Friday night when predicting the upset. My State-fan friends laughed in my face then and quickly changed the subject last night. Too bad both of my teams couldn't topple the East yesterday. But I guess one victory and one nail-biter is good enough.
