If that hooligan keeps such antics up, he may soon be branded as a scaliwag. <img border="0" alt="[NoNo]" title="" src="graemlins/nono.gif" />

I've heard that Jackie and Joe Lee have been at each other, again.

Any word on that?

I have my own theory about why MS State has been having problems. Since Joe Lee had such a powerful defense a couple of years ago, Sherrill decided to recruit only offensive players. Now the defense has no decent players. having no defense breaks the moral of the game. That is why State is having problems winning games. Of course, this is just my theory and am probably wrong.

HATE TO SAY IT, BUT I DON'T THINK JACKIE WILL BE
AROUND NEXT YEAR. THE LEG HUMPERS ARE GETTING TIRED OF HIS BELLY ACHING AND LOSING WAYS. JUST
HOPE THEY DON'T REPLACE HIM WITH A WINNING COACH.

As long as the Clown beats Ole Miss, the leg humpers will be content.

If he goes 2-9 this year and loses to us, though, you can stick a fork in him.

Shoot, even as bad a year as Troy State is having, they only lost to Miss St 11-8. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

M-state tried to give the game away, but Troy State just couldn't take it. It is a good thing for the pups - if they had been playing any kind of a team, they would have been crying at homecoming two years in a row. :crying:

It is a sad thing to see a coach, any coach, even Cheryl, reduced to blaming officials and then getting reprimanded by the conference for blaming officials. It makes me want to turn away. He can't blame his team, can't blame himself, can't blame the opponents, can't blame the 25 people who come out to see State College lose, so he blames the officials. This is sad, folks.

Well, he never has been able to take responsibility for anything. Of course, when the NCAA cracked down on the cowbells, it was our fault. I know the rumor has floated that John Shafer was the first to point a finger at State for that, but the noisemaker rule is nationwide. Of course, blame Ole Miss for everything.

1. Sherrill wasn't "blaming the officials." He simply stated that they made some bad calls, and he sent evidence to the conference office. That happens all the time. The reason he was reprimanded is he publicly criticized them. I don't recall Sherrill saying that those calls were the difference in the game.

2. The NCAA did not crack down on cowbells. The NCAA does not have a noisemaker rule. The SEC has had the conference rule since the 70's when Shug Jordan whined about the cowbells in Jackson. Why do MSU fans blame Mississippi for this new legislation? Mr. Khayat initiated the discussion at the SEC meetings in Destin.

The point is dawgy, Jackie always seems to be the first to cry foul when something doesn't go his way. Had you guys beaten South Carolina, he wouldn't have sent in the tapes and criticized the officials regardless of bad calls. My post was based on things I've heard in the media and such. Doesn't mean it's 100% factual.

You're right about the noisemaker thing though. That is SEC and not NCAA. Remember back a few years ago when both Ole Miss and State had to quit firing the Howitzers inside the stadium before the games? The SEC did a crackdown on that back around '95 or so. What I don't get is the fact that Vandy is still allowed to have that damned foghorn.

The fact is that I just have no respect for Jackie. He has done some good things with your program, but he has also put both Texas A & M and Pitt on probation. Give him enough time, and he'll put State there too. To me, he's just a crybaby.

WR

Just wait. He will certainly be crying after this year. He will be crying all the way to the unemployment office! My question is, will they fire just Sherrill or the entire staff?

I remember hearing a little story on Conference Call way back in the day about Sherrill while he was still at A&M. If I'm not mistaken, he accused Arkansas of inflating punted footballs with helium to aid special teams' play. What doesn't make sense to me is: 1.) isn't a football too heavy for helium to keep aloft?, 2.) wouldn't the same footballs likely be used when A&M punted?, and 3.) how does castrating a bull inspire a team before a football game? 03-confused
