This isn't a knock on Almond, btw. He's a great player and I wish he was a Tiger, I just would like to see the numbers.
CDR averaged 26.6 minutes per game.
Almond averaged 33.2 minutes per game.

He's one of the best 5 seniors in the nation. He's the best player in the conference (if he was on Memphis' team, you'd have a chance to win the national title). Another really nice bonus is he's on track to graduate this spring.
I didn't think he'd win POTY but I'm happy for him and I'm also happy the statement the conference is making by naming him POTY.
In 5-10 years, you doubters will be happy to tell your friends and relatives you got to see Almond play in college.

You are nuts. The guy was in NBA camps over the summer and was told he was a top 20 draft pick and this year in a stronger draft class he is still a top 20 projected pick.

You can also say how would Almond do with a complete team backing him up like CDR has. ALMOND is the Best Player in conference and it shows. If you don't see that then you are in denial.

He got it because he was a senior and because he jacks up a lot of shots. Player of the year should help his team win. Obviously, he didn't do that this year.
CDR, Dorsey, or Hunt are better than Almond.

I sure don't see any Memphis players projected that high in the draft, hell Carney and Williams weren't much higher in last years weak ass draft without the high school players. Hell they aren't even on the draft board with all thier NBA ready talent You would think they would be top 50

I've never seen an ECU player in the NBA draft.

You can't be serious...
Absolutely serious. Rice sucks. Just because Almond jacks up a lot of shots is no reason to give him player of the year.
Hard to figure how someone from a basketball school has such a poor understanding of the game. Judgment clouded by homerism, I guess. Bossman's roommate?

I watched Memphis demolish Rice and hold Almond to 15 points. He didn't seem so special to me.
Quote:Anderson, who had six assists, also covered Rice guard Morris Almond, the conference's leading scorer, and third-best in the nation.
He is averaging 27.2 points, but was held to just 15. Almond was 5-for-14 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds, but also had six turnovers.

How many shots a game does Almond take vs. CDR, also. Again, not a knock on Almond. I'm just wondering.
Did anyone ever see the Fresh Prince episode where Will played basketball and he took every shot on the team?

I thought this conversation was about the best player in this conference and your lack of ability to judge talent. Hell look at the mock drafts around with more knowledgble scouts than us. Almond is a first rounder and there aren't any Memphis players projected in either round. Maybe they grow up and get drafted one day but right now it's not even close. No one said anything about ECU, although Blue Edwards was a first round draft pick and 10 year NBA vet, it has happened before.

You don't think he helps his team win? Rice would have 6-8 wins on the year without Almond.
At the end of the game he was getting triple teamed and still scoring. Just imagine how good he would be if he had a supporting cast like Memphis, where he'd only have to beat one man instead of three....
