This is a topic that's gone over really well on the CFN board, and I'd like to get the feedback from SECbbs members.

In your own opinion, as a fan of your team, rank your rivalries.. top 5..ones of the past you'd like to start..and a team you'd like to start a rivalry with

As a Razorback...

1) Texas (Sept. 13, 2003..it starts again)

2) Alabama (close games in football and hoops..intense fans on both sides)

3) LSU (battle of the Boot growing every yr.)

4) Miss. State (tobacco juice is tough to clean on shirts btw...a trip to Starkville is a costly one to the dry cleaners.)

5) Ole Miss (fan hostility is on the upswing)

Honorable mention - Kentucky (GREAT hoops rivalry), and Tennessee (Fulmer needs to be horse-whipped)

Ones that are missed and should re-start

Texas A&M - hatred of them runs almost as deep as Texas. Talks have been in the air for an annual UA-A&M matchup to follow the Texas-Oklahoma game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Missouri - this is more basketball-oriented. UA-Mizzou used to be a premier non-conference matchup that ESPN always covered. It had become a fierce rivalry until Norm Stewart ended it after the 1996 season. I'd like to see us play Missouri in hoops again, and also start a OOC rivalry in football with the Tigers.

Team(s) I'd like to start rivalries with

Oklahoma State - already in basketball, I'd like to see this moved to football as well. Stillwater is closer to Fayetteville than any SEC school, and it'd make for a great regional border war. OSU fans also are more tolerable than Blow U fans.

Kansas State - another great regional matchup for the HOGS, and another sure-fire ESPN game.

I can only speak for myself...other Dawg fans will feel differently.

1) North Avenue Trade School
2) Florida
3) Auburn
4) Tennessee
5) South Carolina

Ones I miss and wish we could restart....

Clemson, we had some great games with these guys in the past, plus they are only about 75 miles from Athens

I agree with calling on the Razorback rivalries, although the rivalry between Arkansas and Oklahoma is really growing. There is a lot of hostility between us in the border towns, and the Cotton Bowl, this years baseball regional, and the ongoing basketball battles have turned it into a real fight for bragging rights.

And we should definitely restart the Mizzou battles. That football program is on the upswing, and they are a basketball powerhouse under Quin Snyder.

For LSU I would have to say:

1 Ole Miss
2 Tulane
3 Alabama

Then of course we all hate Florida. In the future I would really like to see LSU play Tennessee (I know its not possible) every year seeing how entertaining the last few games have been. I would also like to see LSU start playing Texas A&M again.

i know i know.............so i'm slow lately

1. LSwho--from cannon to archie and beyond. And yes, in most cases, we DO hate lsu more than msu

2. miss stake--in-state rivaly. Ole Miss, by far, owns the most Egg Bowl trophies.

3. Allbarn--Mostly because of ears'(tommy t, for those of you who do not know) traitourous leaving...although some rebs, such as myself, didn't like him that much when he was here.

4. Arkiesaw--all time series in football is close. Almost every game is eventful and fun to watch.

5. Ala-freakin-bama--yes they own us. Which is why Ole Miss fans LOVE it when we get an opportunity to give bama **** . Payroll tide <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

btw, i do know that these are all SEC west teams. We really do need to buildup a good out of conference rivarly. but thanks to tommy t's multi-billion year contracts with teams like Arkie State, I don't see that happening any time soon. Though, Ole Miss does have a decent rivalry with Memphis. And, with the series starting up with Texas Tech this year...things could happen.

I'd like to see us play a team like Marshall or one of the Va schools.

peace...........
