Mike Organ assesses Vanderbilt's units.

Offense: C-. If the unit had only capitalized on several solid drives and scored a touchdown the effort would have been far more satisfying.

Defense: D. Granted, bringing Carnell ''Cadillac'' Williams down is no easy task, but the Commodores were in position several times to keep him in check and failed to stop him.

Special teams: C-. A botched pooch punt hurt and Mike Martin's missed tackle on Auburn punter Damon Duval were negatives, but the kickoff team didn't allow a long return.

Coaching: B. The game plan was effective with new wrinkles put in this week that caused Auburn trouble, especially early.

PLAYERS

Moved Up

WR Brandon Smith. He had 4 catches for 58 yards and gave the secondary something to worry about other than focusing purely on Dan Stricker.

By The Wayside

SS Jonathan Shaub. The junior was in position to tackle Carnell Williams, but let him break free for a 65-yard touchdown run.

Statistic of the Game

Vanderbilt came in as the 96th ranked defense against the rush and allowed Auburn to pile up 250 yards on just 37 carries.
