I'm sorry about what happened to your def. tackle. That's a really tough break for y'all and certainly an awful thing for him. So far as your team goes, though, it is functionally no different than had he been injured and unable to play for the rest of the seaon. I'm sure your coaches long ago had a plan for that kind of thing. As for him, if its a first offense, the courts are likely to go easy on him, unless you've got mandatory sentencing laws for that amount of pot. Fact is, he might even get a plea to a lesser offense. It wouldn't happen if he was just a punk on the streets, but you know how these things go.
Anyway, we owe you for last year. Look out pigs, we're coming.

No offense to anyone but I don't feel sorry for him at all. He knew what he was doing and went in with his eyes wide open. I do hate it for the school and his parents - surely they attempted to raise him better. :frown:

I don't really feel sorry for him either. I think he should be punished as anyone would be punished under such circumstances. With that much in his possesion, he clearly knew what he was doing. I do, however, feel he should be forgiven when he has served his punishment. I hate to see anyone ruin his/her life, especially at such a young age. Coach Nutt has tolerated a great deal of inappropriate behavior in the past few months. Regardless of the team's succes, I feel he protected his own as a matter of "family" instead. Coaches and players bond extensively in many cases. I feel for him. He was betrayed by Brooks as much as anyone was. Anyways, I extend my sympathy to Brooks' family and the UofA family. I hope to see him punished for it but I also hope he can recover a considerably successful "legal" life afterwards.
