GO HERD!
GO CUSA!

Some people were totally traumatized by the conference reshuffling that took place a while back and have just not gotten over it. They're like women who have been jilted and then go around accusing every man they are involved with of cheating on them.

I'm very pleased with all the teams in C-USA. I've been particularly impressed with Tulsa and its fans. I'm very happy that UCF and Marshall made the switch together.

No worse than a school in South Florida being in a conference with Connecticut and Pennsylvania teams, or a team in Pennsylvania with an Iowa team. And it certainly cannot compare with La. Tech being in the same conference with Hawaii. While not ideally compact, C-USA geography is sensible enough.

Umm... no.

What I would do would be this:
1) Keep UCF in the conference
2) Add Florida, Florida St, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Clemson, LSU, and Tennessee

I'm not happy with some of the suckage on the basketball court. I'm also not happy that Watson Brown continues to ruin our talented football teams.

-Southern Miss you have to say will get better...Good coach will turn them around
-UCF is adding more C-USA talent over A-Sun talent
-Houston landed good recruits recently
-Memphis is Memphis
-UAB is UAB
-According to ECU fans, the new AD is focusing on hoops
-UTEP is close to being a great hoops team
-Tulsa was once a basketball power and hopefully they will return

First off if you are a western team you expect to travel, its just a fact. We have about 10 d1a football school with in about 5 hours from us and probably 50 D1 basketball and other sports school with in 5 hours . We aren't used to going 3 time zones away for a game.

Second there is a MAJOR difference Tulsa, Rice, UTEP, Houston, SMU and Tulane. Are hundreds and hundreds of miles way. That?s almost all of the conference about as far as you can get away, and we play all of them in most sports other than football.

Most of the Big East is more reasonable traveling distances for us and we have a history with most of those schools in the Big East. We have even been in the same conference with 4 (half) of the current BE schools.

Have history with:

West Virginia
Syracuse
Pitt
Louisville
Cincinnati
USF

Rutgers and Uconn are the only ones we don't have history with (Holtz has history with UConn). They maybe about the easiest trips of all of them. It's not much harder than getting to Memphis or USM.

The biggest thing for ECU fans is what this conference will look like when the BE splits or expands and if we aren?t taken. For augments sake lets say the Big East splits and takes Memphis and UCF. This is probably something what CUSA will look like.

CUSA
West
1.Tulsa
2. Houston
3. SMU
4. N. Texas
5. UTEP
6. Rice

East
1. S. Miss
2. Marshall
3. ECU
4. UAB
5. La. Tech
6. Tulane

La Tech is next in line, and as far as N. Texas, Dallas is the home of CUSA N. Texas is one of the largest schools in Texas where the rest of the conference pretty much is, this seems pretty natural. (another cross town rival as well) If not these two schools I think UL-L and New Mexico State would be candidates. The conference gets very unattractive for ECU fans geography wise. Then there is the possibility the MWC would try to keep up with the BE and add UTEP. About a quarter of this conference would be Sun Belt level then.

However, as an ECU fan there's no doubt some problems. Our three closest conference rivals are 9,10,& 11 hours away. It's not natural to have schools from West Virginia and North Carolina in a conference with teams from texas and Oklahoma.

And ECU would be in that quarter, am I right? As much respect as I have for ECU enough is enough. Go back to being Indy. You like to brag how successful you were back in the day. Had that Liberty Bowl thing going for you and all. Think you would get that deal today? Hell no. Your football team can't make a bowl game, your basketball is almost as bad as Southern Miss, and your baseball team can't make the NCAA's anymore. Wake up.

Nahhh we were 5-6 (4-4) not that far behind you guys last year and #6 in this conference. Had we played a D1aa like S. Miss, we would have probably had the privilege of beating up on that Sun Belt champ. I think it is pretty clear we are back on the rise after a 2 REALLY bad years the others were at least compeditiveor good. FTR what program doesn't got through a down cycle every 5 years, we just had John Thompson.

1999-.... 9-3 wins over #9 Miami, West Virginia, NC State, S. Carolina and Duke.... 5-0 vs the BCS that season. Finished the regular season #19 in the nation. 2nd in CUSA, 42,000 fans a game average.

2000....- 8-4 wins over Syracuse, Texas Tech (in a bowl) and Duke.... 3-2 overall vs the BCS that year also beat Louisville and S. Miss who were in the top 25 that year and, finished with votes in the final polls ourself for the 2nd straight season. 2nd in CUSA.

2001.... 6-6 (6-2) went to a bowl... pre season top 25 lost 5 games by a TD or less, and all to teams with winning records and 4 that were ranked, still finished 2nd in CUSA.

2002 4-8 (4-4).... beat CUSA champ #22 ranked TCU and had a few bright spots

2003 1-11... John Thompson coached team, we sucked despite having 5 players in the NFL the next season off this team. It was coaching or lack there of.

2004 2-9... John Thompson coached team, more sucking from Thompson

2005 5-6 (4-4)... Skip Holtz to the rescue, 5 point loss in Morgantown to a 11-1 top 5 West Virgina team.....clearly trending back up

Clearly you don't. We didn't do much worse than you an you guys or 4 or 5 other teams in this conference I am sure you would say had "good seasons" with a new coach, and you still don't respect us.

As far as a deal who knows about tomorrow. Look at the OOC home and homes Terry Holland got us. Virgina Tech 9 straight year 4 home and one neutral......I wouldn't put much by him. We just added a 100,000 WATT FM station and a 50,000 WATT AM station as our flag ships to a 30 deep Pirate Sports network in NC (covers all the major cities), VA, SC We have had indy TV deals with ESPN and indy Bowl tie ins before. To go with our Local football TV deal that pre-empts Notre Dame on the NBC affiliate or 5 games a year. How many other teams in this conference have Local TV for football on a network affiliate like NBC that pre-empts Notre Dame 4 or 5 times a year, and a 100k Watt FM station and stations in several states????

Quote:Hell no. Your football team can't make a bowl game, your basketball is almost as bad as Southern Miss, and your baseball team can't make the NCAA's anymore. Wake up.

Basketball has as much potential if not better than half this conference. 5,200 fans for a 8 win team, NC hot bed for recruits. I think we have the coaching staff to get us there, not to mention Terry Holland's leadership. We have proven we can beat some big time top 10 schools the last 4 years we just need to get more consistent. Baseball just ended a 7 straight year NCAA tourney, and we won 34 games and were a top 50 RPI team. Hard to kick that sport. So go ahead and rag us, maybe we will leave and you can add UL-Monroe or MSTU as well since we are so bad.

The last four years ECU hasn't been a winner in football or basketball. Don't let the door hit you on your way to become indy....

02-13-banana I really enjoy being in CUSA, it provides UCF with better geographical rivals. UCF hosting the Conference Championship created a big buzz in Central Florida. Maybe next time we sell the stadium out.

Had you payed attention for half a second when your sorry ass school was still involved in CUSA you would know that I am a Clemson fan...but I also pull for ECU. Clemson comes first when they meet....but I've always respected the only football school in North Carolina. I've said the same thing since the first day I joined the KillerFrogs board...and I'll be saying it 10 years from now.

Bust this, BCS poser.

ECU hasn't played a MAC team since 1998 and only 15 games all-time. Hard to judge how ECU would do in the current MAC.

ECU won at Ohio 21-14 in 1998 and won in Greenville 55-45 in 1996 vs Ohio. Those are the only ones in last 10 years. ECU is 10-5 all-time vs the current MAC. ECU does have solid attendance, but on the football field, its hard to argue ECU would come close to what Marshall did in the MAC. CUSA is about equal in football and basketball to the MAC on the field. TV contracts and attendance may be a tad better in CUSA; however, MAC is just as strong on the field and on the court. their isn't much difference between MWC, WAC, CUSA, and MAC either on the the field and on the court.

I absolutely LOVE this conference and unless a SEC or ACC invite comes our way I don't want to leave. Considering I don't see us getting an invite from either conference for a LONG LONG time if ever at all (I can dream though) I hope to see us in here for a long time.

That is if everyone else who is in here now stays for the long run as well. If that happens I can see us really building a great conference. Last year was a good start!
