Lely running back Ereck Plancher verbally committed to continue his football career at Central Florida next year.

Plancher, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior, led the team with 1,028 yards and 14 touchdowns in his first year on varsity, while helping the Trojans go 6-4 in 2005.

High school football players can?t officially sign letters-of-intent until Feb. 7, 2007.

Lely head coach Chris Metzger said Plancher was a "can?t-miss recruit" because of his 3.8 GPA and hard work on the football field.

"You?d be hard-pressed to find anyone who?s been as committed as him," Metzger said. ?He?s gotten better every year and we just feel like it?s a great opportunity for him."

Plancher said his other choices were Indiana and South Florida, but picked UCF because he said it?s a program on the rise and a conversation he had with head coach George O' Leary.

"I visited UCF and it?s like the best place," he said. "I really liked it from the get-go. Now, I can just focus on helping.?
