On-campus Stadium gaining momentum?

UAB is in the exact same situation when it comes to stadium issues. The one thing we have going is that they are about to build a new dome here and we pretty much can be a tenent if we want to.

Legion Field where we play games is old and seats 80,000+. Sounds and I bet looks very similar to the Citrus Bowl. We all would love an on-campus one but you gotta have the $$$$, and they aren't cheap and hard to committ that much resources, especially if you have had the benefit of using a stadium without alot of the upkeep, construction, improvement costs.

The thing is though if we didn't have Legion Field we probably wouldn't have a team because when starting from nothing, having a stadium to go play in is what holds most schools back. UAB and UCF have both benefitted from having access to stadiums in their cities.

As for UAB playing in the dome I see both benefits (always good weather, brand new, clean) and craw backs (not primary tenant, not grass playing field, tailgating may hindered?)
