Ignorance in an of itself is not necessarily a bad thing. People are ignorant of many things. It simply means that the person isn't aware of the facts or the pertinent information. It is dangerous, however, because it can cause people to make incorrect decisions and assumptions.

Willful ignorance is bad. That means that someone isn't aware of the issue and is unwilling to research the issue.

I would argue that Ms Manning is perfectly capable of determining what her gender is. Its her body.

Apparently he can't.
