Not just UT and not just this year, not picking on them. Those southern schools shake off the sun and fun and come to play.
Appalachian State is better than Toledo? Yes.
But when I see a 5 TD margin along with a goose egg for UT, something else is going on too. Frustrating for MAC fans - and certainly those traveling across the country - wanting to watch a game where all players are at full intensity.
We are collectively a pretty bad conference, sure, but something happens in late December where we really look Pop Warner.
I can remember when APP came into the Sun Belt and many people talked about how bad the Sun Belt was compared to conferences like the MAC, this game shows that not only is there little to no separation but that an 8 win Sun Belt team can dominate the MAC conference champ 11 win team, wow screw the experts right?
“Many people” talked about how much better the MAC is than Sun Belt? Not sure how much I’m buying that. Maybe you’re confusing us with the CUSA folks who are bigger rivals within your geography. It happens, but I don’t often see MAC fans puffing their chests out over any conference. Even the higher end FCS ones.
Certainly I am not sure who said it but I have heard MAC folks talk about talent and academics when it comes to MAC versus Sun Belt, if you look at 247 sports recruiting you will see the MAC outperforming the Sun Belt in recruiting standards,. I guess we just have better coaching to overcome such deficits.
Or perhaps a better eye for talent instead of relying on a bogus rating system That MVP tonight had NO stars out of high school.
