Having the guarantee that at least one G5 team will make the playoff would level the playing field and make it more worthwhile for G5 teams to invest in their programs.
I agree with this except I’d require it to be the highest ranked G5 conference champion. We will be at 8 teams within the next 5-10 years. Especially if we keep having controversy with 4. 8 helps the G5 and will generate more tv $.
They'll just move the goalposts. They will do everything in their power to exclude the other 50% of FBS. It's all about the $$$. There could be 16 playoff spots, but until the G5 conference champions are *guaranteed* a spot they'll most likely never get close to the playoff
The committee already comes to the conclusion they want and then backs it up after the fact with whatever random points
