Talent wise it’s a 5-7 seed. That has not changed since the opening tipoff.

Just wondering where we need to set our expectations too. I think alot of folks around here (myself included) expect more of this program, but also want to be realistic.

I missed the press release that this roster was the shiznet. I saw fans saying Final 4 or bust after our starting guards graduated. Which seemed odd. Set your expectations wherever you wish. Stark reality dictates that from surviving an effective death penalty after 2006, and overcoming continued economic constraints, outdated facilities and conference shakeout, this program has likely punched above its weight with all its faced in the past decade+ yet a small portion of its deluded fanbase serms to think we are UK due to the early 1960’s.

After all that this will be an 8th straight ncaa berth which I think only UNC, Gonzaga, Duke, Michigan State and Kansas can brag about. Life is too short. Enjoy the ride.

I don't understand how Mick had a death penalty in 2006? Yes he started with a depleted roster, but he did have a chance to keep Downey which would have been huge for those teams. I'm not sure I agreed with his strategy of loading up on all JUCOs, maybe a couple, but he should have been able to haul in better classes with Freshman those first couple years if they were going to be throw away years anyway.

As for the 8 straight tourneys. Thats fine if that's how you want to measure the program, I personally would throw away 4 years with bad teams and one really good year, than 5 average teams. That's just me.

I get it, he had a depleted roster. But normally when someone says "death penalty" they are talking about sanctions and penalties. He had Devan Downey, who could have been a three year anchor, but he let him go. Yes the first year was probably going to suck for anyone other than Calipari. There still was no reason it should have taken 5 years to get back to the tournament.

Anyways, that whole saga has been beaten dead so many times, there's nothing left to beat.
