Look... Let's be honest: a new division has been created within the NCAA "Division 1" athletics. How long this new division exists and what it's eventual disposition will be is up for debate. Personally, I think the long-term fate of the "g" division will be to either discontinue FB or to be re-combined into the FCS ranks. So, the "end goal" of any program serious about football is this--GET INTO ANY "POWER" DIVISION SLOT YOU CAN. Period. End of story.

The longer your program is in the "g" division, the bigger the chasm grows in terms of $$$, perception, and relevance, between your program and major college athletics. At some point, the divide will become so pronounced that it will be extremely difficult to cross at all...kind of like when certain posters argue that some FCS call-up should join the SEC. As a Bearcat fan, all I care about...all I want...is my program to be on the right side of the line. Any of the "g" division conferences...the American, the MAC, CUSA...they are all of varying degrees of irrelevant. In the long-term, I could care less about which of the "g" conferences UC plays in.
