Right now the issue is that ULM needs Tech, but doesn't want the community or "football world" to know it. Tech is perfectly fine offering ULM a 2 for 1 or an FCS level paycheck, but ULM's AD understands the perception of accepting that kind of deal, and how it would be received by a limited "engaged" list of donors. ULM wants a Home and Home with ULM getting the first home game because that will be the one historically that allows them to draw a crowd and make money on the game. Tech obviously wants the first game because historically the ULM fanbase will only pick one of the games to attend.

Whether Cajun and Warhawk fans want to admit it or not, Tech achieved separation when it went Independent and eventually jumped into the WAC. While ULM and ULL got cozy and comfortable barely getting by on the football field, Tech was scheduling big dogs and logging huge lots of miles competing in a very competitive conference. Tech took a huge risk and came out of it better. I would think it would still be pretty fresh in the minds of Cajun fans exactly where the hierarchy of Louisiana football lies, but I guess not. Though I will admit that was one hell of a time watching reality sink into Cajun Field when they realized exactly why Tech has that little bit of swagger they take the wrong way.
