Had Coach Mo won 8 or 9 games last year and 8 or 9 this year, Compher would be trying to leverage that into a better job. - That's why he is bad for ECU. Compher has to go. Mo needs to be sat down and told he has this year and next to turn things around or he is out.

ECU wants to be a 'big boy' school when it comes to football. What do the 'big boy' schools do when something like this happens? They pony up the money and fire the AD and coaches, then pony up again and hire somebody that can get the job done. ECU raised a buttload of money in a very short time for the stadium renovation. Let this season play out as 2-10 or 0-12 and I guarantee EVERY large donor would say yes to re-appropriating that money to get rid of Compher (and likely Mo). ECU doesn't need a nicer press box right now. There's no sense in painting a sinking ship.

It is not a question of need...it is matter of keeping up. Sitting back and allowing everyone we recruit against to upgrade while being complacent could make things worse. College football is a business. Just like any business you have to do what it takes to keep your market share...or suffer loss of it. Its a war. Regardless of whether Mo turns this around and changes everything or he gets canned...the renovation needs to be moved forward to attract better recruits and a better coach if necessary.

The money has been raised...the project approved...every day we put this off the cost go up. This is going to happen anyway. Get it done. BTW...The project also includes other upgrades to the facility outside of the press box that make the program more attractive to recruits.

Besides tearing down the double-wide and making DFS look like a modern stadium:

"Beyond the stadium renovation, the Ward Sports Medicine Building and Scales Field House will also experience improvements as part of the long-term facilities master plan. The football locker room and team meeting areas, athletics training headquarters and equipment room will each undergo a modernization and expansion transformation along with the construction of a football team lounge. The relocation of the ECU Athletics Ticket Office and the addition of team locker rooms will highlight the work scheduled for Scales Field House... At nearby Clark-LeClair Stadium, a hitting facility will be constructed to support both baseball and softball programs." LINK

Yes it is an awful lot of money. But with Compher just getting a 5 year extension, he wont be going anywhere soon. With Mo's contract until 2021, he's likely to get at least another year. As they say on Black Jeopardy, "What we got is what we got." Our best bet is pushing forward on facilities or end up a decade behind our peers.

We are only two games into the season and it ain't looking too good. I'd love to see the Pirates start improving this year and Coach Mo become the greatest coach in ECU history. If he doesn't improve, coaching changes are a fraction of facilities costs.
