A quality leader should be able to turn Rutgers into a conference title contender for the long haul

We've been thinking that here in NJ since the early 70s when the school administration walked away from the basically 1AA schedule we'd been playing since the 1930s.

O'Brien and Franklin rebuilding Penn State as quickly as they did works against us; and honestly people in NJ aren't as attached to Rutgers as they are to the local pro teams (and we're competing against 3 of them.) That works against us. It's not an impossible task but makes it harder.

I'll be happy if we're competitive this year in the Illinois -- Indiana -- Purdue and Maryland games.
