I'm not sure if you're suggesting Tulsa shouldn't have been added, or not. But if you are that would be silly. Tulsa has won more conference championshis than any other school since we joined. And we finished 2nd in our football division last year (ahead of the almighty Houston). And would have won the division if not for some officiating gaffes.

He isn't saying you haven't pulled your weight athletically. He is saying adding Tulsa and Tulane were not necessary - and the addition of those schools were not worth slicing the pie by more pieces financially. In that opinion he is almost assuredly correct. The only good reason to have added them is if our TV contract required a certain number of teams.

Yeah Dallas is a big market but SMU certianly cant claim it. Off the top of my head, texas, texas a&m, dallas cowboys, tcu, Oklahoma, just to name a few in front. Throw in the rangers, nascar, mavs, and there are still a few spots to get down to SMU.

ECU is a smaller market and again had done less.

Where is Temple in its hiearchy?

Houston similar problems to SMU, but they've been winning.

In fact other than UConn (maybe) I can not think of another school in conference who is top of their city or region.

We do have an attendance issue. I think it has a lot to do with our local/regional marketing. But being honest we fit generally well with this conference, with all the schools having differing but similar issues.

The choice wasn't SMU vs Tulsa - the choice was add two small privates or nothing. It was probably the wrong decision to add them. Its not personal, and of course it is water under the bridge.

Oh - and we have won the conference in MBB two of the last three years - so winning nothing would be inaccurate.
