No, I just had to get out of there, overtaxed and many stupid regs, government unions control the state. It used to be a great place, but the best days are in the past.

I live in Alabama right now but I'm a native born Californian. I think your opinion is affected by something else other than what you wrote. Yes, taxes suck but the state tax is not that horrible. And how the the regulations actually affect you on a day to day basis?

It's all the same ish in a different toilet IMO. Now if we want to talk about housing costs that's another story....That's a complete rip off in California.

Retail I believe is 7.5%, property is 1% but can vary depending on your city (I pay 1.1), mello Roos sucks a bit; but the killers are home prices and gas taxes. Gas is way too damn expensive here. The home prices are a supply problem as in not enough. If it was possible to drop the home prices, lower the gas taxes on the gallon, and reverse some of the draconian gun laws; California would be a utopia. IMHO. Sadly I don't have a magic wand to make this happen.
