Grand Forks is farther away from Minneapolis than we are from Seattle. If you're giving them credit for Minnesota the U of I campus is about a 15 minute walk from Washington.

What is the % Washington residents enrolled at U of I? Why would kids go there when a similar offering school is just down the road. At UND, Minnesota kids often don't want to go to a major urban school like UM and many don't meet the hurdles for getting in.

I don't care. I think this is a silly conversation. We're talking about one area with hardly any people (eastern North Dakota) claiming dominion over another area with hardly any people (western Minnesota). And that's split between at least two schools (UND, NDSU, anyone else?). WA and OR residents can attend UI for about what their own in-state tuition costs, by the way. I'm not claiming one school's situation is superior to the other, I'm just reiterating that the Dakotas, like Idaho and Montana, are in the middle of nowhere.
