Not going to happen. The only D2 school in Colorado which would/could even consider moving up is Metro State Denver. CU Colorado Springs, CU Pueblo and CU Denver are all tied to the University of Colorado and they will never move up.

This all very hypothetical, and of course it comes down ultimately to $$$... but the Univ Colo- Colorado Springs is a very interesting move up.

They seem to be striving to raise their institutional profile, are investing money in improving facilities, they had a former basketball player get selected in the 1st round by the SA Spurs (Derrick White). Their sports profile aligns with the Summit (basketball, soccer, baseball, no football). They have 13,000 students in a metro of 700,000+ that supports AAA baseball and division 2 soccer. Their gym is small, but they could use the Broadmoor Arena. And it provides a travel partner for Denver 1 hour away. Hmmmm...

It's hard to see the Minnesota schools dropping football. I don't think Augustana and their 2,000 students can be successful at D1.

But Colo Springs is an Air Force Academy town (my uncle used to work there). Is there enough room for another division 1 school in town? Is there the will on the part of university administrators? Is there the $$$?
