Adding UMKC does nothing for keeping the Summit's autobid if IPFW leaves, as UMKC doesn't have baseball. The Summit needs to take advantage of the Dakotas main sport, football, which it currently ignores.

Yeah they mentioned the Big Sky but why did they mention Montana or Weber St? They sure aren't leaving. There is only 1 choice to pick from the Big Sky and that is Northern Colorado.

I really hope UNC goes to the Summit because that will give the Big Sky a nice 10 team footprint (12 for football). And the Big Sky would have a great travel pairing.

Then the question becomes, will the Summit sponsor football since they will have 6 football teams?

I'm totally discounting W Illinois, as their main desirable league is the MVFC, not the Summit.

But NDSU and SDSU have totally dominated the MVFC, and USD is improving. Meanwhile, UND won the Big Sky football last year and should be stronger this year. Getting a Summit Football League going is the obvious strategy to save it. Relying on men's soccer to keep the autobid, which none of the Dakota 4 sponsor, is pure lunacy.
