As for West Texas A&M? They do still have rapid fan base that could go higher if they move to D1. Every Texas schools still have better fan support than some MAC schools. The Lone Star conference alone tells it alone as a better football attendance conference for football behind the HBCU conferences. One of the West Texas A&M's home game, if I remember right, had more than 22,000 in the 20,000 seat stadium. That is more than what New Mexico State could get lately.

When did West Texas A&M get 22,000 for a game DavidSt??????? Who was the opponent? Last year? The year before? Back up your statement that West Texas A&M gets better attendence than MAC schools or New Mexico St.

Quote:But the largest crowd to ever pack Kimbrough Memorial occurred on Oct. 13, 2007, when 23, 276 fans witnessed watched WT defeat Eastern New Mexico, 62-31.

That was 10 years ago. Both games in 2005 and 2007 were against Eastern New Mexico. It could even get shattered if they take on New Mexico State in football. Their stadium could be an FBS ready now than some others. They could get that much if they do move to D1. You have never seen a D2 school get over 20,000 fans for a game in recent years.

Two games 10 and 12 years ago mean nothing now. A lot has changed in that time. WTAMU is not going to be D1-A and New Mexico State is not going to play there. Those attendance numbers are nice but one was homecoming and both were against an opponent from only 108 miles away. What happened the rest of the season?

Year. G - tot att - avg
2005. 6 - 78,535 - 13,089 (5 games, 11,108 avg)
2007. 7 - 86,950 - 12,421 (6 games, 10,612 avg)
