"Michigan State and Eastern Michigan are big favorites to win their season openers at home, while Western Michigan is an underdog on the road. The Spartans are 18-point favorites over Bowling Green, the Eagles are 12.5-point favorites over Charlotte and USC is 19-point favorites over the Broncos."

I'll take USC -19 all day in that one. WMU on the road, new coaches & schemes, QB with no experience, all new receivers.......USC Heisman QB, likely Top 5 ranking, at home........it could get ugly! Last year has ZERO bearing on upcoming year.

USC, as well as the rest of the world, knows WMU will try to rely heavily on their 2 RB's to take pressure off new QB, and burn clock to try to keep it from getting out of hand. USC focuses on stopping the run and it could be a 5+ TD blowout.

A beatdown in this scenario really nothing to hang their heads about. They'll still compete for the MAC championship with the overall talent that Fleck has stacked on that team (compared to most MAC teams).
