I was able to watch the match last night. France looked the better team until that second half water break. That US team that came out after that break was awesome. Played with fight and attacked. I don't know what someone said/did during that break but it worked. I used that last goal to emphasize to my son to ALWAYS follow the shot because you never know when the goalie may goof.

I think the majority of the guys playing for the US are in Europe, too, right? Maybe we are seeing the transition of national team guys coming back with Europe experience versus college experience and it's paying dividends.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking too...currently there are quite a few out there, most are still with their academy teams:
Brady Scott - Koln
Carlos Dos Santos - Benfica
Serginio Dest - Ajax (Juniors)
Chris Gloster - Hannover
Chris Richards - Bayern
Alexis Mendez - Freiburg
Sebastian Soto - Hannover (3 Caps w/ Senior Team)
Timo Weah - Celtic by way of PSG (18 Senior Caps w/ 4 goals and 4 assists)
Konrad de le Fuente - Barcelona
Uly Llanez - Wolfsburg

Add to those guys Amon (Nordsjæland), Sargent (Bremen), Maloney (Union Berlin), and Christian Cappis (Hobro) and Pomykal and Durkin who have had great seasons with Dallas and DC respectively and will like be looked at by a few European clubs during the summer window.

I read this morning that Dortmund is closely following Soto given that Hanover was relegated and the contract negotiations b/t Soto and Hannover may have hit a snag recently. I think both he and Gloster only have one year left on their respective contracts.

Yep...early rumors have Soto staying in the Bundesliga. Dortmund and Schalke have both sniffed around.

Additionally, I'm hoping Weah can find a team where he'll get solid field time. Celtic was a great situation for him...and PSG have a significant previous relationship with them.

Must be a wild ride for Maloney at Union Berlin, which was just promoted to the Bundesliga. Apparently, the club has a great following and is the first former East Berlin club to make it to the Bundesliga. From what I've read the players and supporters partied for two straight days following promotion.
