If Navas was say a Spaniard or South American he would be more celebrated and accepted.

You touched on it at the end. Navas is wholly discounted by Real because he's Costa Rican and not from a normal soccer power. There is nothing more to it.

As a Spurs fan, I would take Navas over Lloris right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but RM historically has a certain "look" it wants its players to have. Kind of the "Galatico" type that sells just as much as it wins and a reason why the Angel Di Maria types don't last too long in Madrid.
