I do not know the proportional representation of the crowd by country, but there were a significant number of people (thousands upon thousands) with allegiance or affiliation with a country differing from the one they actually live.

That's the thing about the US. Lots of people from other places choose to live here. I don't blame them for cheering for their home of origin. Happens in lots of other nations as well, not just the US.

Yea. I dont understand why people get focused on that. Its an exhibition sporting event. Not the opening salvo of another Mexican-American War.

If 2nd or 3rd generation Mexican Americans go to an exhibition with an El Tri jersey on then thats fine. Whatever. No different than some guy in NYC pretending he's still Italian or some dude in Chicago talking about his Polish heritage.

Hell my family moved from France in the 17th Century and Denmark in the 18th century. I still root for them in soccer.

My surname Huguenot ancestors fled France in 1684. I feel no particular affection for them now and will never root against the USA when playing France or any other country. To each his own....

I could be wrong, but I assume Team USA would rather face a friendly versus an hostile crowd waving flags from foreign lands when on home soil.
