RE: OT: Officially The Official Soccer Thread
Poland is the first European team eliminated after losing 3-0 to Colombia. Colombia must beat Senegal on Thursday to advance.

In other news, Mo Salah is threatening to quit the Egyptian National Team. Apparently Russia intentionally stuck their base camp in Chechnya, and has been using state run media to broadcast how happy Salah is there. The Chechnyan "Leader" keeps stopping by for "visits" and honored him at a dinner and everything. He's not a big fan of being used for political gain, and feels that Egypt is hanging him out to dry allowing it to happen.

Side note, sticking one of the most popular soccer players in the world in a disputed region that you "claim" control of, and constantly running your regional leaders out for surprise "visits" with said star while your state run media just happens to be nearby is a very Putin thing to do.

As for why he chose to broadcast this now and not wait until after they got safely out of Russia, I have no idea. Putin can make someone "disappear" by simply snapping his fingers.
