The president declared today a national holiday and the whole country is hungover, at least according to my BIL down in Peru. Heck, my Peruvian wife doesn't even like soccer and she was going crazy with joy after the match. Hard for us here to imagine what this means for these soccer mad nations. It gave me chills just watching the match.

The Farfan goal was literally a seismic event, the Peruvian fans celebration caused several earthquake detection centers to send warnings. It's nice to see Peru make a World Cup after 3rd place finishes in the 2011 and 2015 Copa America, plus Quarterfinals at last year's Centenario. I wouldn't be surprised if Peru make a run to the Round of 16 or Quarterfinals, they are very well organized and a technically sound team.
