We really need buy in from every level, this is a line in the sand showing exactly why pay-to-play is killing soccer competitiveness. The meat of this roster should've been of the age that saw the 2002 world cup and wanted to be a part of it...so many of those kids couldn't afford to play soccer and as such, we missed out in basically every player from 24-28. We need a complete overhaul of soccer down to a fundamental level here, and the first thing is completely stripping down barriers for entry and finding a way to provide more quality development to players without reliance on wins and losses.

There are no more excuses, this is it.

Amen!!! Our pay to play system is killing us and you wonder why Latino Immigrants don't root for the US, because many of them are excluded from our soccer system. I grew up in Cincinnati and I now live in Albuquerque. You should these Mexican kids here, they have great technical ability and very few of them play for the top Clubs since their parents can't afford to pay. My parents help out some African refugee families in Cincinnati and their kids are great soccer players. The only reason they play for the best Select teams is because my parents pay for them. They are technically and athletically superior yet some of the parents complain about them playing over their kids and they have threatened to take their kids off the team and stop paying. What ends up happening is they sit on the bench while the average Suburban kids play!!

Soccer aka real football is the most Capitalistic Sport on the planet you right wing moron. NFL and NBA have salary caps which is socialistic and communist. No one gives a crap about the NFL outside of North America, and we invented Basketball and Baseball and are far ahead the rest of the world.
