Didn't he make it pretty clear he was going to play for Mexico...despite never living one single day in Mexico?

He recently, as in only a few minutes before the 40 man roster was released, made it clear he was open to choosing the USA instead.

What changed? He did just sign a new contract with FC Dallas. Was he using "I want to play for Mexico" as a way to try to insinuate that he needed more money or would leave for Liga MX?

I think he was angling for a US Gold Cup call up when he said it. He's smart enough to know the US does not have a true future at Keeper once Howard and Guzan are out of the picture, and the best way to get himself involved in that is threaten to play for Mexico and force the US To call him up sooner.

Ethan Horvath is probably the future. Him or Jonathan Klimsmann, and thr latter will trigger everyone.

Klinsmann looked SUPER questionable throughout the U20 WC...Horvath is the odds on favorite if his career arc continues in its current path.
