The Dakota 4, particularly NDSU, are used to ruling the roost and getting their way. Ditto for the Montanas. This is the FCS equivalent of trying to drop Alabama, Ohio St, Texas, and USC all together and expecting them to get along and reach a consensus.

I really don't see the Horizon or MVC reaching out and trying to grab Omaha or UMKC. Even if both the MVC and Horizon expand aggressively and land at 12 I think the remainder of the Summit--I expect all 4 Dakotas, Omaha, Denver, Oral Roberts, and likely WIU all to still be there--is still stronger than the WAC and thus won't be on the verge of collapse.

Omaha and UMKC are not headed to the Horizon. The league needs a St Louis presence before it leaves it's Great Lakes footprint and tries to stake it's flag on the Great Plains as well.

Where exactly is NDSU "ruling the roost"? SDSU and NDSU have partnered very well together from the day we both decided to move up. We continue to work closely together, why do you think UND got an invite to both leagues? The MVC schools had fought for years to keep UND out of the MVFC. There is a reason UND were in the Big Sky. SDSU, NDSU and USD worked together, for the past couple of years to get UND an invite. Not one of us could have gotten UND in alone.

Fan behavior doesn't equate to school administrative behavior. May I suggest you listen to an interview with NDSU AD Matt Larsen. Especially his most recent which he discusses the possibility of NDSU moving to FBS. It was rather enlightening. The finances don't work, and Larsen was blunt about what it would take and where the school sees itself. Go to Bison 1660, I think it was with Brake. Good stuff. Not what a lot of NDSU fans wanted to hear.

Some fans want FBS so badly they really let their imaginations get going. Despite what the facts on the ground are.

agreed, but I was wrong on where the discussion with Larson on finances occurred. It was actually at the link below where the reporter reached out to Larsen.

In the other interview I was think of, Larson discusses the craziness of Bison fans thinking he, or the school should force themselves on a conference. He also discusses the geography issue NDSU have and why they are happy in the leagues they are currently in. Larson is a good guy. Very smart, very thoughtful, he lives in the real world. He's a lot like Justin Sell at SDSU which is likely why the schools still work so well together.
