Make no mistake, on message boards we love to discuss opinions. But if the P5 conferences were ever to split away from the NCAA the Big East would be on the outside looking in with the rest of the kids at the table.

Again, I think the Big East is great. 5 million to not be playing basketball is absolutely amazing and their success speaks for itself. That success is what I personally think determines power vs non power conference.

But the Big East is not one of the P5.

No one is saying they are one of the P5, but you clearly have a bias. The BE makes more than any G5 conferences and they don't play FB. They make the same amount of TV money for basketball as the ACC. Thats being high resource.

Tiny Providence College makes as much money if not more from it's basketball program than mighty USC.

You see, that's pushing it. Just because some apply their money in a 80/20 fashion doesn't mean everyone does it. There's only so much you can spend on football.

Also, we won't know for a few years with the new ACC network if what you're saying will even be the case. And the ACC was by far the lowest of any of the P5 conferences.

It's not pushing anything. The ACC pays Notre Dame 5 million a year for BBall and olympic sports. Thats a fact. Now that number MIGHT change in the future but so could the Big Easts. Right now, the ACC values basketball membership TV money at 5 million per year. Thats also with a few FB games thrown in. So for just BBall the BE is making just a smidge more than what Notre Dame makes.

except that the Big East is only getting 4.17 million per year per school.

And the ACC was the lowest per school of any P5 conference for TV money.
