While Sacramento is a no brainer, and the CSU system should force it to end its sham marriage to the Big Sky as a "differentiator" (), I don't think any of these three are realistic. Bakersfield and UCSD would keep the UC/CSU balance in the Big West, and is the only near term solution ...... *if* they want to expand. At this time, they either don't want to, or can't get the votes.

You lump Hawaii in the the UC's (which is closer to being true than the other way), and call it Even Steven 6 and 6.

The BW won't have 11 California teams, as you already know. that is way too many. There's no room for all of Bakersfield, Sac State and UCSD. So the only way Sac State joins is if the BW wanted to restart football. Which is something it has no stomach for. It would still need one more full member and at least two affiliates, all of whom are outside California.

Good luck convincing at least one if not two of Portland State, Northern Arizona, Weber State and Eastern Washington to either join the BW as a full member or put football there and go to the WAC.
