This may in the end be what happens over the next decade. I really do not see the Dakota's hanging out with the MVC schools forever.

The Montana's are not happy. Idaho is not happy. The Dakota's will need to make a move eventually and that would be a conference which would make both Omaha and DU happy. Travel really isn't that bad with 5 in the west and 5 in the east. And it is a conference, that if push came to shove could easily move up to G5 and be competitive immediately. Some schools would need to upgrade their FB facilities (USD, UND, EWU) but all three could get it done. It makes too much sense.

The best chance would be a depleted Summit a new conference is hard to make happen.
Say the Indiana schools go to the Horizon Oral Roberts to the WAC and WIU to the OVC would be possibilities then.

Denver-Omaha
Travel would be pretty good and fan interest improved for all the members.
Follow the Big Ten lead and change the NCHC to Summit Hockey conference.

ORU and potentially Omaha could both seek the WAC if the Summit loses its eastern teams.
