NDSU would very likely have blown us out in 2016 or 2017. So we should be pleased to take a kid away from them.

Nothing at all wrong with recruiting such areas. I remember when Bill Yeoman was building his program at UH, the big high schools sent all their talent to the SWC schools, or Big 8 or SEC. So Yeoman concentrated on two areas--minorities and 3A and below. I remember doing a tabulation that one of his Cotton Bowl teams had more starters from 3A and below schools than did the rest of the SWC combined. If you can evaluate talent, you can do very well with that approach.
