Warner Stamey was the first to serve hushpuppies with Q in (you guessed it) Greensboro.

Hushpuppies are now the norm for Lexington style barbecue, while the traditional bread for Eastern Style is cornsticks.

Thanks to chain restaurants, hush puppies are becoming more common. Some restaurants will offer a dinner roll as an alternative.
