SERIES HISTORY
Louisville trails 24-8 in the all-time series against Vanderbilt, which dates back to 1971. The Cardinals have won four of the last six in the series, including a 9-5 victory last season in Nashville to reclaim control of the Barrel. The Commodores own a 3-2 lead in the Battle of the Barrel series, which began in 2012.

TEAM NOTES AND TRENDS
• Louisville is No. 6 in this week's NCAA RPI and among five ACC schools in the top 11 spots.
• The Cardinals are No. 1 in the nation in shutouts, second in ERA, second in WHIP, third in hits allowed per 9 IP, 12th in strikeouts per 9 IP, 13th in fielding percentage, 13th in strikeout-to-walk ratio, 16th in scoring, 17th in hit-by-pitch, 19th in on-base percentage and 22nd in stolen bases.
• Louisville has won 25 of its 28 ACC series since joining the league and is 27-1 in its series finales during that span, including an 11-1 record in rubber games.
• The Cardinals have won all 14 ACC series at home since debuting in the conference in 2015.
• Louisville has won 33 straight regular season weekend series at home dating back to 2013.
• The Cardinals have a 39-0 record this season when leading after eight innings.
• A season after setting a school record for highest fielding percentage (.978), Louisville has maintained a similar pace in 2017 with 36 errors in 48 games for a .980 fielding percentage.
• The Cardinals have allowed two or fewer earned runs in 27 of 48 games this season after accomplishing the feat in 36 of 64 games last season. They allowed two or fewer earned runs in 36 of 65 games in 2015, 40 of 67 games in 2014 and 36 of 65 games in 2013.
• Louisville is No. 1 in the ACC in ERA and third in the league in team batting average.
• In 24 ACC games, the Cardinals pitching staff has a 2.60 ERA with 214 strikeouts in 215.0 innings of work.
• The UofL bullpen has a 2.14 ERA and 20-0 record with 190 strikeouts in 198.0 innings pitched while opponents are hitting just .195 overall against the Cardinals relief staff.

Impressive stats but against the worst strength of schedule in the top 30 teams in the latest rpi. All the remaining 8 games will prove more of the Cards relative strength since all the 8 left are in the top 30 of the rpi. I personally hope Louisville sweeps Clemson to help UVa's seed in the ACC tourney and perhaps NCAA host opportunity.
