This isn't correct, though. There is actually a lot of risk ... depending on the viewpoint of which FBS conference we're talking about.

The risk being that the new FBS conference would want to (eventually) obtain the same access to bowl games and the CFP that other FBS conferences have.

How does that benefit any existing FBS conference??

Yes, it would hurt the G5 and they would hate the idea, as we've all (except DavidSt) stipulated 600 times. the P5's share of CFP money will be whatever the P5 wants it to be.
