Take them. They left the Summit once, thinking the Southland would be a better fit ... and it wasn't.

Maybe they'll have the same stroke of "genius" that UMKC's president had, that flying every team from KC/Tulsa out all over the western US would be a better situation than being in a midwestern conference.

When WSU leaves, I think Missouri St will also leave.

At that point you have a very compact MVC, with an even number of private and public schools. In fact, it'd be an even number of private/public in each state. UNI/Drake, Loyola Chicago/Bradley/ILL St/SIU, Indiana St/Evansville.

And then you have to think that Horizon schools probably would not be interested. Not sure if Ohio Valley or Summit schools would even be interested.

It would definitely help them with travel for non-football sports.

There is only one tier, FBS. The other terms are colloquial.

This isn't correct, though. There is actually a lot of risk ... depending on the viewpoint of which FBS conference we're talking about.

The risk being that the new FBS conference would want to (eventually) obtain the same access to bowl games and the CFP that other FBS conferences have.

How does that benefit any existing FBS conference??

There are no FBS slots for the Dakotas. Simple as that.

This is actually false.

The Dakotas have a very good thing going in the Summit. They rule the roost in most sports, getting autobids to national tournaments, and the conference tournaments are often held in their backyards.

No need to mess up a good thing.

The cachet of Arch Madness is greatly diminished from what it was when Creighton was in the league, and when WSU and Missouri St leave the league ... it will basically just be the Summit League but schools with bigger arenas, farther away.

The Dakota 4 have a long, prosperous life ahead of them in the Summit. Sit back, relax, and enjoy! 03-thumbsup
