RE: ODU Brand/Image Improvement Thread
I've heard this a number of times on the radio. I think things like this really help send a signal to the community that ODU is a big deal. I'd like to see more things like this.

Strome Dean Hosts New Radio Segment on WHRV
Jeff Tanner, dean of Old Dominion University's Strome College of Business, is bringing his academic expertise and extensive business background to the airwaves.

Tanner is the host of the "Strome Business Minute," a radio segment that airs weekdays at 4:34 p.m. on 89.5 WHRV-FM.

The segment is intended to inform and entertain the Hampton Roads business community about global and local issues that have regional impact. Topics range from bitcoin, tax reform and economic development to company initiatives. Experts from Old Dominion have also participated. Listen to the "Strome Business Minute" here.

"I signed on to do this because it's a great way to promote the Strome College of Business and ODU to the business community," Tanner said. "Plus, there are topics on my mind that I enjoy talking about. It's an awesome opportunity for us."

Tanner holds a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Georgia and an M.B.A. and a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of North Texas.

Prior to arriving at ODU in 2015, Tanner worked at Baylor University for 27 years in several capacities, including associate dean for undergraduates, associate dean for faculty development and research, and professor emeritus.

Tanner, who has nearly 40 years of business experience, holds board appointments with several companies, including partnerships in JKTanner Inc., a research and marketing consultancy and investment company, and BPT Partners LLC, a CRM training consultancy.

He serves as the chair of the small business committee for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and as a representative for the Hampton Roads Economic Development Association. CoVaBiz: The Business Magazine of Coastal Virginia recently recognized Tanner for "Excellence in Leadership."

"I'm actively engaged in economic development in our community," he said. "I want to highlight success stories right here in our area and help company owners think about ways to grow."
