At UB we had over 3,400 for our exhibition game, but we have to fight for the community's dollar with an NFL team, an NHL team, and two other Division I college basketball teams in our own backyard. Ohio has none of those challenges.

Can we finally put this argument to rest? Anyone anywhere has countless entertainment options. It's particularly wrong and ironic in this case because attendance at Ohio is fueled by affection for visiting Athens. A significant chunk of that 9,000 drove more than an hour to get to the game, and many built a whole weekend on campus around it -- in large part just to be in Athens and on campus for a while. Attendance is driven by a lot of things, but "there's nothing else to do" is not one of them.

You make a great point because if the perception is "there nothing to do" in Athens they wouldn't bother making a trip.

Apply this logic to Olean, NY where St. Bonaventure is located. That is a place with nothing to do and nobody is going back.
