Green had two things going against him..

Yes, he got 22 wins his second season. but then fall back to .500 the following year... Consistency in basketball is a must have. In football where you can kind of have an off year-on year situation and get a little more leeway, in basketball you don't get that opportunity. You need streaks, good streaks... (aka Larry E.)

2) We were (as a school and fans) devoted to football with no ifs ands or buts.

And therein lies the problem. Our "fans" invariably hold something against any given coaching hire unless it's their favorite. Supporting someone simply because he's ours and not going any damned where for at least a few years is a foreign concept.

It's freaking bizarre how people don't care enough to try to contribute to someone's success, but they're by gosh oh so passionate about things when the same person is failing.

James was a friend. Watched him play at Ingomar. Got sh**canned by RG from the start. Unfair treatment. He handled it well when he could have sued.

LE was and still is a reclusive a**hole. Great coach. Supported him too.

Starting with MK my group took every coach and team to dinner at the tourney for over 25 years. Learned a lot about people coaches and players alike.

I don't know Sadler. Could be a great guy. He isn't the guy for the job we have now. I know we can't fire him but we can stop extending him.

Selfishly, I miss the tourney trips. None since El Paso. I hope we can resume the tradition soon. I guess that is my beef. I don't expect it to change until there is another coaching change.

All that being said, I have had some of the best times of my life at conference BB tourneys since 1987. Met and made great friends from many cities, schools, and walks of life. That is on hold until our university decides to commit to moving forward with the program.

Admittedly, I am gun shy from the many years of RG lying to my face at tourneys.

Not Sadler's fault, I know, but I am not encouraged with his coaching ability even with depleted forces.

That is all.
