That Hawaii was able to play in the NCAA tournament invalidates any comparison right off the bat. They have a 1-year post-season ban effective this season, whereas we've been locked out the past two. That makes for completely different effects on recruiting the rosters at each school this year and last.

Additionally, Hawaii only lost one active player as a result of their investigation, and he wasn't even the one (singular) with the phony admissions info that started the whole thing.

Furthermore, in regards to the relative hammers that were waiting to be dropped by the NCAA, even after falling on our own sword with the self-imposed penalties, we were still given harsher penalties than Hawaii on the back end. Heck, Tyndall's show cause order is twice as long as those of the two sanctioned Hawaii coaches combined.

The circunstances at the two schools as they affected last season and affect this season aren't even close to the same.

certainly there are differences in the two instances. however, are they so different that Sadler was forever doomed with no way of recovery, while the Hawaii sanctions are harmless? what a joke. there are a number of similarities actually (both on probation for 3 years and paying similar amount of fine). one big difference though, is that our former AD is an idiot for all the self-imposed penalties he placed.

Hawaii is appealing their post season ban for this year (not they they will win, but still). what are we doing? does it even really matter with Sadler as coach? the Admin (and some people on this board), pissed down their legs as soon as they heard the word probation.

REGARDLESS, the point, is that Sadler cant recruit or coach good enough to win whether we ever had sanctions or not. the guy is a baffoon. i just love hearing the excuses from the one or two people left that are defending him. this clown named Sadler has destroyed this program....not the sanctions or the fatty (DT) that caused the sanctions and gave us 27 wins his last year. hell, if the comedian could win 12-15 games a year in this crap conference with our crap OOC schedule, i may have cut him some slack. but look at what he has done! its a joke. anyone continuing to defend him must have some serious personal issues and should do some self-evaluation asap.

First, off, WE DON'T KNOW if Sadler is "forever doomed." This is his first year to be able recruit without all that mess hanging over the program. So you don't like him and want him gone yesterday. Fine, that's your prerogative. But that you keep downplaying the impact of what went down and ranting and raving as if everything would be fine around here if anyone else were the coach instead of him just makes you look like an ignorant doofus.

And for the last time, Tyndall more likely delivered 0 wins than 27 his final season because we have to give at least the majority of them back due to his getting caught cheating his ass off to get players here.

Our violations involved more serious infractions with more players, whom were subsequently sent packing while still on the roster. We were given more scholarship reductions over a longer period of time than Hawaii. Our (former) coaches were given FAR stiffer penalties. It stands to reason if UH ended up with a 1-year post-season ban, we had more than that coming. Contrary to what your simple little prejudiced mind would like to believe, the admin didn't just randomly pull "2 years" out its rectum. It came to that decision based upon what it knew about the infractions, what the likely penalties would be, what those penalties would be if we didn't self-impose vs. if we didn't, and at that point, chose to take the 2 years on the front end instead of waiting.
